Tawharanui Regional Park

Set on a remote peninsula with native coastal walking tracks and a beautiful white-sand beach. Just one hour north of Auckland, it is the perfect day trip. Explore one of the many tracks, spend the afternoon swimming, or stop at the famous Matakana markets on your way out. 

Tāwharanui is New Zealand’s first open sanctuary providing a safe home for threatened native wildlife. Take State Highway 1 north to Warkworth. Follow the signs to Matakana. Just past Matakana turn right at the Omaha turn off, from here the park is well sign posted.

I have done the Ecology Trail and West-end Track. All tracks are signposted, Visit the on-site Information centre or see the link below for more information on the tracks.  Enjoy.
